Precautions
"White Rust" is one of the most encountered problems with galvanized coated material, occurs where freshly galvanized steel is exposed to rain, dew, condensation or when water can penetrate between the layers of galvanized steel and remain for extended periods, the water reacts with the zinc and progressively form anode-cathode principle and consume the coating, decreasing corrosion resistance, and thus shortens the useful life of the manufactured products.

To avoid the white rust, the following precautions should be taken:

  • During transportation, the galvanized sheets should be protected against moisture.
  • Material should be kept in covered storage.
  • To avoid ground moisture, pallets should be placed on wooden wedges.
  • Temperature difference should not exceed 10°C in the storage areas.

  • Storage areas should be properly ventilated.

  • Material should be checked in every two months.
